Deputy Chief Financial Officer

Deputy Chief Financial Officer

  • Shape Chorus’ financial strategy at the highest levels of leadership
  • Lead and unify a senior team through growth and transformation
  • Influence enterprise decisions in a complex, regulated environment

Chorus is the digital backbone of Aotearoa. As the country’s largest open-access telecommunications infrastructure provider, our fibre network connects homes, schools, hospitals, and businesses to the services they rely on. With a bold strategy and a renewed purpose, unleashing potential through connectivity, we’re shifting from being the great network builder to the great network operator. That means transformation across every layer of the business, including finance.

This is where you come in.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Deputy Chief Finance Officer (DCFO) plays a pivotal leadership role, shaping Chorus’ financial and strategic direction. The remit spans enterprise-wide financial planning, performance reporting, internal controls, and commercial business partnering, with a focus on lifting commercial IQ and supporting long-range value creation.

You’ll lead a high-performing team of over 50 across financial planning & analysis, compliance, reporting, procurement, and business partnering. You’ll partner with executive and Board-level stakeholders, including the Audit and Risk Committee, providing financial insight that informs decision-making in a highly accountable, capital-intensive, and regulated environment.

This is a future-focused leadership opportunity. You’ll align Chorus’s Long-Range Plan with enterprise priorities, embed financial discipline, strengthen cohesion across the function, and rebuild a sense of identity through change, all while mentoring the next generation of finance leaders.

What we’re looking for:
We’re after a strategic and commercially minded finance leader who thrives in complexity and delivers with precision.

You will bring:

  • A Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent) and significant experience leading operational finance at scale
  • Deep expertise in enterprise planning, performance reporting, and commercial business partnering
  • Experience in regulated or capital-intensive industries such as infrastructure, telecommunications, or technology
  • A proven ability to translate financial insight into enterprise strategy and operational outcomes
  • Presence and communication skills to influence at the highest levels, internally and externally
  • A collaborative, people-first leadership style with a focus on capability building and cohesion

This role has accountability for financial control, but its focus is future-facing. We’re looking for someone who can drive commercial performance, guide complex planning, and elevate the value of finance across the organisation.

Why Chorus?
With our bold strategy in place and a team of passionate people behind it, Chorus is an exciting place to be. We embrace flexible work, foster an inclusive culture, and invest in the development of our people. As part of our leadership team, you’ll be shaping not just the future of our business but helping unlock better futures for all of Aotearoa.
