Chief Commercial Officer

Chief Commercial Officer

  • Lead from the front in winning new business and growing revenue.
  • Build and lead a high-performing, commercially driven sales team.
  • Executive role with genuine influence over market growth and strategy.

The opportunity
We are partnering with an established New Zealand technology and infrastructure services business to appoint a Chief Commercial Officer at an important stage in its growth.

The organisation has significant technical capability, established customer relationships and considerable opportunity to expand its market presence. What it now needs is an exceptional commercial leader who can turn that opportunity into revenue.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the CCO will take ownership of the commercial growth agenda, with a clear mandate to accelerate new business, grow existing accounts, strengthen market positioning and develop a more proactive, high-performing sales culture.

This is not a role for someone who simply manages relationships, oversees strategy or waits for opportunities to arrive.

We are looking for someone who leads from the front. A commercial leader who is comfortable opening doors, pursuing major opportunities, negotiating complex deals and personally helping to convert business, while building a team capable of doing the same.

You will establish a disciplined approach to business development, pipeline management, account growth and commercial performance. Working closely with product, technical and delivery teams, you will ensure the organisation is taking compelling solutions to market and converting its capability into profitable, recurring revenue.

There is genuine scope to shape the commercial function, establish clear accountability and create the momentum needed for the organisation's next phase.

About you
You will be an accomplished sales and commercial leader with a proven record of delivering significant revenue growth in complex B2B environments.

Your experience may come from technology services, telecommunications, infrastructure, managed services, enterprise solutions or another technically complex, relationship-led sector.

Critically, you will have built business, not simply managed it.

You will bring:

  • Proven new business development : A strong personal track record of identifying opportunities, winning customers, negotiating significant contracts and delivering measurable revenue growth.
  • Sales leadership : Experience building, leading and developing high-performing sales and business development teams, with clear targets, accountability and a strong performance culture.
  • Commercial ownership : Demonstrated accountability for revenue, margin, pipeline performance and sustainable business growth.
  • Strategic customer relationships : The credibility to engage with CEOs, executive teams, major customers and strategic partners, turning relationships into meaningful commercial outcomes.
  • Market development : The ability to identify new markets, develop go-to-market strategies and position complex technical services in ways that resonate with customers.
  • Commercial discipline : Strong deal qualification, forecasting, pricing awareness and negotiation capability, with an understanding of the balance between revenue, profitability and delivery.
  • Entrepreneurial drive : The confidence, pace and initiative to create opportunity and build commercial momentum without relying on a large corporate infrastructure.

You will be equally comfortable in the boardroom and in front of customers. You will know when to set direction, when to empower your team and when to personally get involved to win business.

Above all, you will bring the energy, resilience and commercial ambition to lead a business development function that is proactive, accountable and consistently delivering.

Why consider this opportunity?
This is a genuine opportunity to make your mark on an established business with significant growth potential.

You will have the backing of an ambitious leadership team, strong underlying technical capability and the autonomy to shape how the organisation goes to market.

For someone who enjoys winning business, building teams and creating commercial success, this is an opportunity to have real influence over both strategy and results.
