This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most strategically positioned Māori-owned infrastructure and network services businesses through its next phase of growth. 

Tū Ātea Network Services brings together the capability, relationships and market reputation of Broadtech, JDA, Galaxy and Transworks. Collectively, the Group delivers deep technical expertise across telecommunications, electrical, network infrastructure, data centre services, routing, switching, connectivity and critical infrastructure solutions. 

TANS is a strategic service provider to enterprises, government agencies, utilities, regional customers and high-growth sectors across Aotearoa. Its portfolio spans complex professional services projects, proactive and reactive managed services, procurement and supply, and a refined suite of service products across telecommunications, network, infrastructure and technology domains. 

The Group has long-standing partnerships across New Zealand’s mobile network operators, TowerCo organisations, infrastructure providers and enterprise customers. These relationships have been built over more than 20 years of trusted delivery, technical capability and operational performance. 

Alongside its established operations in Aotearoa, TANS also brings more than two decades of experience supporting infrastructure and connectivity outcomes across the Pacific Islands, creating a meaningful opportunity for continued regional expansion. 

The business also has immediate opportunities to deepen and scale sector-specific services in areas such as health and media, where secure, resilient, high-performance applications, connectivity and managed services are mission-critical. 

We are seeking a commercially proven and entrepreneurial Chief Executive Officer with the vision, leadership capability and growth mindset to lead Tū Ātea Network Services into its next era. 

The successful candidate will understand how to scale customer-centric, service-led businesses, lead complex delivery environments, build long-term strategic customer partnerships and drive sustainable growth across projects, managed services, procurement and sector-focused service products. 


The opportunity 
Reporting directly to the Board, the CEO will lead TANS’ strategic and operational direction, accelerating growth, strengthening organisational capability and positioning the Group for long-term success. 

The successful candidate will inherit a business with significant capability, an established senior leadership team, deep technical expertise and substantial opportunity for expansion through: 
  • Growth in core telecommunications, network, data centre, routing and switching services  
  • Expansion of sector-specific service products in health, media and other high-value markets  
  • Strategic customer and partner relationships  
  • Professional services and complex project delivery  
  • Proactive and reactive managed services  Procurement and supply-led growth  
  • Crown and departmental opportunities

The Board has a bold vision for the future of TANS and is seeking a leader capable of balancing commercial discipline with strategic ambition. 

Key priorities will include: 
  • Leading and inspiring a high-performing executive and operational team  
  • Driving sustainable revenue and profitability growth across the Group  
  • Strengthening performance across professional services, managed services and procurement  
  • Scaling the refined service product portfolio  
  • Unlocking growth in health, media and other strategically important sectors  
  • Strengthening engagement with Crown agencies and key strategic stakeholders  
  • Leading major commercial pursuits and complex bid opportunities  
  • Building on strategic relationships with mobile network operators, TowerCo organisations and infrastructure partners  
  • Identifying and executing strategic growth and acquisition opportunities  
  • Expanding the Group’s presence and capability across the Pacific  
  • Delivering operational excellence across multiple business units  
  • Shaping the long-term strategic direction and market position of the organisation  

About you 
You are an accomplished and credible executive leader with a proven track record of leading growth, transformation and organisational performance at scale. 

You have successfully led large, complex or multi-disciplinary service businesses and understand what it takes to grow high-performing organisations operating across projects, managed services, procurement, infrastructure and recurring revenue environments. 

You bring: 
  • Demonstrated CEO, executive or divisional leadership experience within telecommunications, infrastructure, technology services, data centre, managed services, utilities, media, health technology or adjacent sectors  
  • A strong entrepreneurial and growth-oriented mindset  
  • Experience leading businesses through scale, transformation and commercial expansion  
  • Sophisticated commercial, financial and operational capability  
  • Experience overseeing complex project delivery and service operations  
  • Proven experience engaging with Crown agencies and enterprise customers  
  • Experience leading strategic bids, commercial negotiations and large-scale procurement opportunities  
  • Credibility with enterprise, Crown, iwi and strategic stakeholders  
  • The ability to identify and scale sector-specific growth opportunities 
  • Experience building high-performing cultures and leadership teams 
  • The ability to create alignment, confidence and momentum across diverse stakeholder groups
