At ACC, we help prevent injuries and get New Zealanders and visitors back to everyday life if they’ve had an accident.

Our Service Delivery group provides critical frontline and support services for people injured in an accident, working in close partnership with other groups within ACC to achieve positive outcomes for New Zealanders. Client Recovery is at the heart of this, working with clients across the country to support their rehabilitation and recovery.


About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
The Head of Client Recovery is an enterprise leadership role within ACC’s Service Delivery group, responsible for leading ACC’s largest operational business unit and delivering rehabilitation outcomes for clients across New Zealand.

This role leads the delivery of case management services - ensuring they are delivered effectively, efficiently and with a strong focus on client outcomes. You’ll lead a large, nationally distributed workforce and leadership team, with accountability for operational performance, service quality and efficiency, including leading significant continuous improvement or transformation initiatives and contributing to the success of ACC’s broader strategy. The role encompasses responsibility for identifying and mitigating business risks; resolving process, quality and control issues; and promoting a culture focused on performance and outcomes.

As a member of the Service Delivery leadership team reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Service Delivery, you’ll work closely with leaders across Service Delivery, and the wider organisation to deliver connected, client-focused services and outcomes.

Key areas of focus:
  • Building and leading a high-performing Client Recovery leadership team and culture focused on outcomes and accountability.
  • Leading Client Recovery to deliver effective rehabilitation and improved client outcomes.
  • Driving improved operational performance, service quality and continuous improvement across a large, nationally distributed workforce.
  • Leading business planning, and monitoring and managing service performance across the Client Recovery function.
  • Working across ACC to improve system performance and deliver integrated service outcomes.
  • Partnering closely with Strategic Commissioning & Performance and other business groups to ensure effective design and delivery of rehabilitation and support services.
  • Contributing to the leadership of Service Delivery as a member of the Service Delivery leadership team.

What we’re looking for | Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako
We’re seeking an experienced senior operational leader who brings a strong track record of leading large-scale service delivery functions in complex environments.

You will bring:
  • Proven experience leading large, operational service delivery teams in complex, high-volume environments, with accountability for performance, people and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience improving operational performance, service quality and efficiency, including leading continuous improvement or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong strategic capability, with the ability to translate organisational strategy into clear operational priorities and delivery plans.
  • Experience working in complex stakeholder environments, with the ability to build credibility and influence at senior leadership level.
  • A track record of leading through change, building high-performing leadership teams and creating a culture focused on outcomes and accountability.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, performance targets and business planning.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with Boards and Ministers.
