About your team / Ko te tīma 

This role leads teams across Communications, Ministerial Services, and Performance Planning and Reporting within WorkSafe’s corporate group. Together these functions support how WorkSafe engages with ministers, stakeholders and the public, and how the organisation reports on its performance and impact. 


About the role / Ō te tūranga 

Reporting to the DCE Corporate, this is a senior leadership role at the centre of how WorkSafe presents itself to government, stakeholders and the public. 

You will ensure the organisation’s communications, ministerial services and performance reporting operate as a coherent whole. strengthening the clarity, credibility and consistency of WorkSafe’s narrative. 

WorkSafe is progressing a refreshed strategic direction that places greater emphasis on prevention, sector engagement and system leadership. This role will help shape how that story is communicated and understood, both within government and across the sectors WorkSafe regulates. 

You will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, providing advice on complex and often sensitive issues while ensuring the organisation continues to meet its ministerial and accountability obligations. 


What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi  

  • Lead enterprise communications and public narrative for WorkSafe 
  • Oversee Ministerial Services including OIA and parliamentary responses 
  • Strengthen organisational performance reporting and accountability 
  • Provide trusted advice to the Executive Leadership Team 
  • Ensure alignment between communications, reporting and ministerial outputs 
  • Build a high-performing leadership team across the function 


What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu  

  • Senior leadership experience across communications, corporate affairs or similar functions 
  • Strong understanding of machinery of government and ministerial processes 
  • Experience operating confidently in complex public sector environments 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at executive and governance levels 
  • Strong political judgement and stakeholder management capability 
  • Experience leading high-performing multidisciplinary teams

Salary range / Awhe utu 

As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $177,996 to $234,025. 

Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
