Tourism New Zealand is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to lead our Finance function and play a key role in supporting organisational performance.
Following a recent organisational restructure, this role will provide senior finance leadership within a newly consolidated Corporate Services function. It is an opportunity to build on strong foundations while helping Finance continue to evolve how it supports the organisation.
This is a key leadership role responsible for strong financial stewardship, high-quality insight, and ensuring the organisation is well positioned to make informed decisions in a dynamic environment. The role oversees robust financial management, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and public sector requirements, alongside disciplined financial controls and reporting.
The role will also lead the continued modernisation of Finance, including using technology, automation and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, insight, and the way Finance supports decision-making across the organisation.
Operating across nine countries, the role involves multi-currency and regulatory complexity.
In this role, you will lead a well-established, high-performing Finance team, with a focus on streamlining processes and improving efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a trusted finance subject-matter expert to senior leaders, providing clear advice and supporting strong organisational decision-making.
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting to support decision-making.
- Driving continuous improvement across Finance systems, processes and reporting.
- Strengthening financial discipline and capability across the organisation.
- Ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and stewardship.
What you will need | Ngā pūkenga mō tēnei tūranga
We’re looking for a commercially minded, experienced Finance leader who can engage and inspire teams while delivering high-quality outcomes.
You will bring:
- Proven experience leading a Finance function or senior finance team, ideally within a complex, multi-site, multi-currency or international operating environment.
- A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline, with a professional accounting qualification (e.g. CA).
- A track record of building high-performing teams and lifting capability.
- Strong financial and strategic acumen, with the ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice.
- Experience delivering high-quality reporting, forecasting, and insights.
- Experience leveraging AI and technology to improve Finance practices and organisational insight.
- Experience with treasury, cash management and/or foreign exchange risk would be advantageous.
- The ability to think differently about how Finance adds value, particularly in an environment of ongoing cost pressures.
