Industry Partnerships Manager

Industry Partnerships Manager

  • Commercialise Artisan - BRANZ's digital tool for the building sector
  • 12 month fixed-term, Judgeford, Porirua, reporting to GM Corporate Services
  • Turn adoption into revenue: partnerships, pricing and industry relationships

About us
From our campus at Judgeford, just north of Porirua, BRANZ provides practical research, testing, quality assurance and expertise to support better buildings for Aotearoa New Zealand. Our research and testing facilities can simulate fire, earthquakes and extreme weather, as well as accelerate the impacts of decades of weather and corrosion.

Alongside the research, we run a commercial arm providing independent testing and assurance to industry. We're around 120 people, from scientists and engineers to technical specialists.

About the role
Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Services, and working closely with our Communications and Engagement team, we're seeking a commercially minded and relationship-led Industry Partnerships Manager to grow the reach and commercial value of Artisan.

Artisan is a digital tool developed by BRANZ that gives builders a way to capture and verify their work digitally, cutting the time consenting authorities spend on inspection. It is already in use across councils, consenting authorities and building trade bodies. The opportunity now is to establish its true value, both for the sector and as a sustainable commercial proposition.

This is a newly established 12-month fixed-term role created to seize that opportunity. It's a greenfield brief with customers already on board. You'll inherit real relationships and real usage, and your job is to build on them, extend the partnership base across the building and construction sector and beyond, and establish where sustainable commercial value sits. This role has been established for a defined 12-month period while BRANZ assesses the long-term structure and scope of the function.

There is real appetite at Board and executive level to understand what BRANZ's digital tools can become. That means genuine latitude, a short runway, and a role where you will be trusted to get on with it.

You will:
  • Build and grow partnerships and key accounts across the building and construction sector that lift adoption, retention and value
  • Develop a pipeline of commercial opportunities and convert them into agreements and partnership plans that meet BRANZ's objectives
  • Support the development of pricing and subscription models that keep Artisan commercially sustainable while supporting BRANZ's public-good role
  • Act as the connection point between industry, the product team and delivery partners, turning what you hear in the market into clear priorities for the tool
  • Work with the Communications and Engagement team on outreach, campaigns and events that support uptake and sustained use
  • Report on adoption, use and value to inform where effort and investment are best directed

What you’ll bring
You're commercially astute, credible quickly, and comfortable sitting between customers, industry stakeholders and product people, translating between them without needing to be the technical expert in the room.

You'll also bring:
  • A proven track record in industry partnerships, business development, commercial growth or sector engagement, ideally in a complex or technical environment
  • Commercial judgement, including negotiation and the discipline to assess which opportunities are genuinely worth pursuing
  • Credibility with senior stakeholders across industry, government and membership organisations
  • Enough digital fluency to talk confidently about a software product (deep technical expertise is not required)
  • Knowledge of the building and construction sector, or the ability to build it quickly
  • A self-directed approach and the ability to create clarity from ambiguity
Charisma, pragmatism and flexibility matter here as much as any single line on a CV. You'll deal with highly technical specialists one day and a trade association the next, and you'll need to be credible with both.

What we offer
The chance to shape a role from scratch, in an organisation with a fifty-year reputation and a workplace people genuinely enjoy. An on-site café, a family-friendly environment, and a rare combination of hard work and real work-life balance. This is a fixed-term position offering a competitive base salary, without a commission structure. It will suit someone motivated by the challenge and the sector impact as much as the commercial outcome.
