- Own a small portfolio of major national insurance clients
- High-trust, relationship-led role with real accountability
- Focus on retention, service excellence and commercial optimisation
A large, established services organisation is seeking an experienced Key Account Manager to take ownership of a small portfolio of major New Zealand insurance and insurance partner clients.
These are long-standing, high-volume relationships where service quality, reliability and trust matter every day. The role is not about winning new shiny deals. It is about protecting and strengthening partnerships through disciplined, high-touch account management.
About the organisation
The organisation operates at national scale and forms part of a broader international services group. It delivers essential, time-critical services relied on daily by insurers and their customers.
The business is purpose-led, with a strong emphasis on integrity, safety and long-term relationships. Success is driven by consistency, accountability and doing the fundamentals exceptionally well.
The role
You will manage end-to-end relationships with major national insurers and insurance partners, acting as the primary point of accountability across commercial, operational and customer matters.
These clients operate in complex, high-volume environments and expect clarity, responsiveness and follow-through. Your focus will be on service performance, analysis and reporting on key trends, volume, contract and stakeholder management.
You will work closely with internal teams to ensure commitments are delivered consistently, risks are identified early, and issues are resolved before they escalate.
There is future scope for this portfolio to expand to include additional partner or broker networks.
What matters in this role
You will be trusted to own your portfolio. Clients know you, rely on you and expect you to understand their world.
Internally, you collaborate across functions, balancing customer advocacy with operational and commercial realities. Growth is driven through retention, optimisation and incremental improvement, not traditional sales activity.
About you
You bring proven experience managing large, high-value B2B accounts, ideally within insurance, financial services, utilities or telecommunications.
You are comfortable working with contracts and performance data, engaging senior stakeholders and operating in environments where reliability matters.
Important to know
This role suits someone who enjoys sustained ownership and accountability. If you are motivated primarily by short-cycle sales or new business acquisition, this role will not be the right match.
