About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Legal Services Manager to support the Chief Legal Counsel Professional Standards to meet the legal needs of the Law Society to deliver its regulatory responsibilities in the professional standards area. This is a permanent full-time role and can be based in either the Wellington or Auckland office.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Day to day leadership and management of a team of solicitors and legal professionals
- Provide expert legal advice on regulatory and operational matters
- Support regulatory decision-making processes and court interventions
- Manage legal risk and ensure best practice knowledge sharing across the team.
- Manage external legal counsel and key stakeholder relationships.
- Foster a high-performing and collaborative team culture
What We’re Looking For
- A New Zealand qualified lawyer with a current practising certificate or the eligibility to obtain one.
- Significant experience in legal advisory roles, with demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor other lawyers.
- Proven leadership experience, ideally in a regulatory, government, or public sector environment.
- Excellent legal judgment, exceptional written and oral communication skills, and demonstrable stakeholder engagement skills.
- A collaborative, confident and empathetic approach and a commitment to the public interest.
