About your team / Ko te tīma
The Product Stewardship team sits within WorkSafe's newly established Regulatory Effectiveness group. Working alongside policy and product design teams, the team provides oversight of WorkSafe's regulatory products, ensuring guidance, approved codes and other regulatory tools remain fit for purpose, aligned and effective. The team plays a key role in helping WorkSafe become a more connected, disciplined and effective regulator.
About the role / Ō te tūranga
As Manager, Product Stewardship, you will lead the stewardship of WorkSafe's regulatory products and approved or endorsed industry products. You'll oversee product lifecycle decisions, governance and approval processes, ensuring products remain relevant, consistent and aligned to regulatory priorities.
This is an opportunity to shape the future direction of WorkSafe's product system while influencing how guidance and regulatory tools support better health and safety outcomes across New Zealand.
What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi
- Lead the stewardship of WorkSafe's regulatory product system
- Facilitate approval, endorsement and product lifecycle processes
- Provide advice that supports robust decision making and ministerial approvals
- Identify opportunities to improve, maintain or retire products
- Build strong relationships across policy, design and delivery, legal and technical functions
- Lead and develop a new high-performing team focused on system stewardship
What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu
- Experience leading regulatory or system stewardship functions
- Strong understanding of regulatory systems and product governance
- Ability to provide credible advice to senior leaders and Ministers
- Experience balancing strategic thinking with sound day to day judgement and decision making
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability
- Proven people leadership experience and a collaborative leadership style
- Experience in building new teams ensuring team is supported by appropriate process and tools.
Salary range / Awhe utu
The expected appointment base salary for this role is $168,932. KiwiSaver or SSRSS employer contributions are additional.
From 1 April 2026, our KiwiSaver employer contribution increased to 3.5%.

Location
Wellington is preferred, reflecting where much of the organisation’s planning, implementation and business design activity is based.
Other locations would be considered for a suitable candidate who is comfortable with regular travel and investing time in building relationships across the organisation.
