Ko wai mātou | About Us

Crown Infrastructure Delivery (CID), formerly Rau Paenga, is a Crown-owned organisation delivering nationally significant infrastructure for central and local government across Aotearoa. From major recovery programmes to complex current projects, CID brings leadership, clarity, and delivery excellence to the Government’s infrastructure priorities. With offices in Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch, we are growing our capability and culture as our portfolio evolves.

CID owns Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre on behalf of the Crown and oversees its performance, operator compliance, and long-term asset stewardship.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the Role

CID is seeking an experienced Asset Performance Manager to represent the Crown in overseeing the performance, compliance, and strategic management of Te Pae Christchurch.

The role provides independent assurance that the operator is meeting contractual obligations, managing risk, reporting accurately, and delivering strong commercial and operational outcomes. You’ll bring analytical depth, commercial judgement, and a constructive challenge mindset to ensure Te Pae continues to perform as a major Crown-owned asset.

You’ll assess monthly reporting, test data integrity, lead performance discussions, guide capital planning, support health and safety oversight, and deliver clear, concise advice to CID’s executive team. The role requires a positive, professional, and firm relationship with the operator while keeping CID’s interests at the forefront.

This is a rare and commercially unique opportunity within the public sector, sitting at the intersection of asset management, contract oversight, venue performance, and strategic advisory. This position is part time and flexible.

You will:
  • Oversee operator performance, ensuring accurate reporting, financials, forecasting, and health & safety information aligned with the Operator Agreement.
  • Lead performance discussions, challenge assumptions, surface improvement opportunities, and deliver clear recommendations to CID.
  • Review annual plans, budgets, business development strategies, capital works programmes, and funding requests for commercial rigour and alignment with Crown expectations.
  • Assess asset condition, lifecycle needs, and investment priorities, advising on CAPEX, renewals, risks, and long-term stewardship.
  • Maintain oversight of Health & Safety and PCBU obligations, escalating risks and ensuring Crown responsibilities are met.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to validate performance, strengthen relationships, and ensure Te Pae remains a safe, high-performing Crown asset.
Ko koe tēnei | About You

You’re a commercially minded asset, property, or venue management professional who can interpret complex performance data, assess risk, and provide clear, independent advice. You build strong relationships while confidently holding operators to account, influence senior leaders with ease, and translate commercial insights into practical, owner-side recommendations.

You will also bring:
  • Experience in asset management, commercial property, venue operations, precincts, tourism infrastructure, or major contract environments.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to analyse reporting, stress-test performance, and identify improvements.
  • Proven strength in contract oversight, performance frameworks, and KPI-driven delivery.
  • Able to translate technical and financial detail into clear, succinct executive reporting.
  • Excellent relationship skills — collaborative, constructive, and confident representing owner interests.
  • Solid understanding of compliance, H&S governance, risk, and lifecycle planning.
  • Proactive, with the ability to balance strategic thinking with practical, detail-driven insight.
You won’t need direct convention centre experience for this role. The successful candidate may come from airports, stadiums, large venues, property portfolios, event precincts, or FM/asset management environments. You will be comfortable working flexibly, part time initially.
