We are 100% farmer-owned and funded and work on behalf of New Zealand’s sheep and beef producers. Our vision is for thriving sheep and beef farmers, now and into the future. Beef + Lamb New Zealand’s investments play a critical role in underpinning New Zealand’s second biggest export sector.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this newly created, hands-on role will help grow our project office and strengthen delivery capability across a mix of organisational and technology initiatives. You’ll work closely with colleagues in Wellington and across the regions, keeping projects on track, building frameworks that fit, and showing the value a great project manager can bring to a busy, stakeholder-focused organisation.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading projects end-to-end, from initiation through to completion, ensuring scope, budget, and timelines are met.
- Coordinating across internal business units and teams as well as working with external providers and vendors.
- Supporting the development of project frameworks and templates, helping to embed consistent practices and raise organisational maturity.
- Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from the Leadership team and Board to farmer-facing teams, ensuring clear communication and effective change management.
- Capturing lessons learned, benefits realised and feeding these back into the business to strengthen future delivery.
- Demonstrating the value of an internal project management function and contributing to a supportive project community.
What We Ask of You
You’ll bring a balance of technical delivery skills with resilience, adaptability and a collaborative style. You will be curious and approachable, able to listen and empathise, while also bringing clarity and direction to a diverse project landscape. You’ll enjoy connecting across Wellington staff and the wider rural network and will be motivated by the opportunity to shape and grow Beef + Lamb New Zealand’s project capability.
You will bring:
- At least three years’ experience in project management, with a record of delivering high-impact projects.
- Formal project management training (PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM) or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with multiple delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with high proficiency across the Microsoft suite.
- Understanding of risk and change control processes, governance structures, and budget/schedule management.
- Excellent relationship and communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style to different audiences.
- Resilience and pragmatism, bringing comfort working in a developing project environment.
- An interest and/or experience in agriculture or the primary sector (advantageous).
What We Offer
This career move gives you the chance to influence and shape how projects are delivered across B+LNZ, while gaining exposure to initiatives that matter to New Zealand’s primary sector. We offer competitive remuneration, excellent employee benefits (including additional leave and a fully-subsidised life insurance policy), and a flexible, collegial culture that values professionalism, integrity, and strong workplace relationships based on respect and whānau.
