Senior Strategy Manager

Senior Strategy Manager

  • High-impact strategy work with executive exposure
  • Assess new markets, growth opportunities and business cases
  • Six-month contract in Auckland or Wellington

The opportunity
This is a six-month contract for an experienced strategy professional to support a major New Zealand business through an important period of growth and investment activity.

Working within a senior strategy environment, you will assess emerging market opportunities, test commercial assumptions and help shape robust business cases for executive decision-making.

The work will suit a strategist who is comfortable moving from ambiguity to clarity, can work independently, and has the judgement to turn complex analysis into clear, commercially grounded recommendations.

The role
You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to assess growth opportunities within adjacent infrastructure markets.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assessing market size and addressable market opportunities
  • Testing revenue, customer and commercial assumptions
  • Supporting the development of business and investment cases
  • Evaluating the attractiveness and feasibility of new growth opportunities
  • Framing strategic options and recommendations
  • Preparing high-quality executive papers
  • Attending stakeholder meetings and progressing agreed actions
  • Bringing structure and momentum to complex strategic work
  • Working autonomously with limited oversight
The focus is on producing practical, decision-ready work that enables senior leaders to move forward with confidence.

About you
You will be an experienced strategy practitioner with a strong background in corporate strategy, management consulting, commercial strategy or a related field.

You are likely to bring:
  • Proven experience in market sizing and opportunity assessment
  • Strong business-case and commercial-modelling capability
  • Experience developing recommendations for executives or Boards
  • Excellent written communication and executive-paper skills
  • Strong commercial judgement
  • The ability to challenge assumptions constructively
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders
  • The ability to operate independently and hit the ground running
Direct telecommunications or infrastructure experience would be valuable, but it is not essential for someone with strong, transferable strategy capability.

Candidates without a traditional strategy background may also be considered where they bring deep experience across telecommunications, digital infrastructure, mobile networks or data centres, together with strong commercial and analytical capability.

What makes this opportunity attractive
  • High-impact strategic work
  • Exposure to senior leaders and executive decision-making
  • A broad mandate across emerging infrastructure opportunities
  • The opportunity to shape real investment and growth decisions
  • A six-month contract with an immediate start
  • The role can be based in Auckland or Wellington.
