Te Tākinatanga | Our Story
At Contact, we believe home is the most important place in the world. It's all part of our vision to leave Aotearoa better than we found it. We’re a power and broadband company, but we’re so much more than that. We are transforming the ways we mahi, and how Aotearoa is powered, leading the charge on renewable energy and digitising customer journeys in ways not yet seen here. A team of 1000+ from all walks of life who love what we do, look out for each other, and learn from one another every day, we’re stoked to be guided by our tikanga: we touch lives to make life better.
Procurement plays a critical role in enabling Contact to deliver on its strategy. As part of the Finance & Risk function, the Procurement team partners closely with the business to support investment, manage risk, and ensure strong commercial outcomes across assets, services, technology, and supply chain activity. The team is evolving, moving beyond transactional buying to become a trusted, strategic function that helps shape decisions, unlock value, and support Contact as it continues to grow and transform.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
Contact are seeking three Strategic Sourcing Specialists, together forming a senior cohort of trusted category managers who partner closely with the business to shape category and sourcing strategies, lead complex procurement activity, and influence outcomes across Contact.
While each role has a distinct portfolio focus, they are united by a common mandate to bring strong commercial judgement, strategic thinking, risk mitigation and pragmatic delivery to some of Contact’s most complex and high-value sourcing challenges.
You’ll work in a connected, matrixed environment alongside engineers, project leaders, technology teams, and senior stakeholders, getting involved early to help shape commercial approaches, not just run processes at the end.
The portfolios we’re recruiting across include:
Services – shaping and delivering category strategies for critical services such as maintenance, outages, and all related services where continuity, capability, and risk management are key.
Technology & Corporate Services – shaping and delivering category and sourcing strategies across our Technology and Corporate portfolios, working with technology, software, fleet, and people & professional services.
Inventory / Supply Chain – leading and shaping category and sourcing strategies that support the business for improved delivery and quality of spares, consumables, and other maintenance, repair and operations categories, balancing availability, working capital, and standardisation.
Portfolios may evolve over time as the investment programme and operating model continue to mature, so adaptability and comfort with change are important.
Across all roles, you’ll be trusted to:
- Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies aligned to business objectives
- Lead complex sourcing activity, including market engagement, negotiation, and contract execution
- Build strong, credible relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Balance commercial outcomes, risk, and governance in a pragmatic way
- Contribute to the ongoing uplift of procurement capability and maturity at Contact
- These roles can be based in Auckland, Taupo, New Plymouth, Wellington, Tauranga or Christchurch with flexible and hybrid working supported.
Ko wai koe | About you
Across these roles, we’re looking for experienced procurement professionals who are comfortable operating in complexity and influencing without authority.
Successful candidates will likely bring:
- Strong experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or complex commercial roles
- The ability to build trust and credibility with senior stakeholders
- Sound commercial judgement and confidence making decisions in ambiguous environments
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to challenge previous approaches
You will be supported to succeed with strong leadership, a collaborative team environment, and the opportunity to shape how procurement operates as Contact continues to grow.
